The Apple Remote gets disconnected from my sound bar and tv. Sometimes I can’t turn on my tv with it and/ or control the volume on my soundbar.

I've had a 1terabite installed n my 2008 i mac some years ago when hard drive crashed. I really hate new parts can't b installed with the software upgrade . I believe apple should consider asking customers about what their consetns and suggestions are before new machines are built. This really sucks

Kudos on the overview. I’ll test to see how things look when I actually get a smart tv this summer. I’ve been running my pre smart era Sony XBR 8 for 15 years and the IC boards are starting to give out. I’ve only used the TV as a dumb display anyway as my audio gets sent to the receiver which does the 5.1.1 decoding and amplification and routing. Most of my tv watching was TiVo cable recordings with an equally of TiVo. The TV is always a display device only. Time to upgrade. The new Sonys for 2024 run Android so I’ll see what they have installed in them. I’ve been tuning the AppleTV 4K first generation and had the AppleTV Gen 1 before that, so I’m familiar with that system. It has its bugs - the podcast app just cannot seem to reliably launch a video podcast playback as of late , occasionally looses its rss back end and just will not put in the quick access the video podcast I watch most. Oh and the phone to search sky entry has become a disaster in RUclips , but that could be a RUclips app issue. One it the big all Apple problems beyond the crap podcast app, is the janky remote with Apple doing its weird thing of swipes and long presses. I use a programmable remote to replace ALL of my other remotes and drive everything that way and by macros. But that’s all based on the established IR remote paradigm of a button puts out a burst of codes IR light per press. This means ffwd/rew and long press to delete or move things isn’t possible on the Home Theater Remote , but hey that’s why I keep the Apple Remote in the drawer or the phone nearby. If there are any ads in the tv’s own interface then that’s that and I’ll never use it again. Period. No compromise there. For live tv I have my TiVo with cable guide (as shit as that Program guide still is , an American problem ). So I don’t really have a use case that needs me to use the TVs app ecosystem. It’s just a duplicate of what I already have hooked up via my AVR. In the slowness issue , having expedited what Apple did to my ipad2, I think for tvs the same applies. If your tv works and has the features you want - do NOT upgrade the firmware. Leave it alone and turn off auto updates. Because computers run the old software just as fast 10 years on as the day they were new. But the new software constantly expects the hardware improvements. That is critical for Apple devices whet you cannot go back to prior versions. For TVs if you can preserve software on a USB stick and downgrade at will then testing new versioned isn’t bad, just be prepared to go back.

I just really wish Apple TV had multiple profiles with the ability to lock your personal one but thats the only downside, the remote also feels really good and makes an expensive TV feel like an expensive TV plus you can use your apple phone or watch to control the TV when convenient

I just found your video and I totally agree with all said. Same reasons to buy one a couple of years ago, my Sony OLED TV with Android got so laggy and buggy that it was really annoying. I got one Apple TV and never looked back. And all the benefits that come with it being part of the ecosystem, I just love it!

When this Apple TV box installed on Smart Google TV, the Google TV boot display will appear on the screen and then go to the Apple TV home screen. Apple need made a true tv not a tv box...😓.

Hey Kyle, would you know why 3rd party wallpapers on iPhone look different from Lock Screen to Home Screen? I got your wallpapers which are awesome by the way but the home screen looks duller than the Lock Screen which looks great.

Hey Kyle, I am curious why you didn’t use the studio display thunderbolt port into the TS4 dock and then use the TS4 into the MacBook for a single cable power solution. Is it because the studios displays thunderbolt port is 3 and not 4?

In 2024, a 60hz low rez screen with large bezels is outrageous

i swiched from iphone to android after being with iphone for so long and honestly its been pretty good so far. (iphone 12 to s24 ultra) the screen is really nice and i dont really mind not having imessage and facetime. i use instagram video to video call my gf instead. the android is really cool and allows alot of customization and i actually prefer the touch id more than the face id because its fast. touch id works with my bank app and other apps if they have it. honestly i recommend to get the s24 ultra if you dont use facetime or dont care for imessage that much. its a good phone and the screen makes watching content more enjoyable. the only downside is that i dont have a fast charger and it can take more than an hour to fully charge but i ordered one so im going to see if that helps out. oh i forgot to mention you can charge other phones with your phone wirelessly on the backs of the phones. that was a woah moment for me. you can prob get alot of cool points from your partner or friends after showing them that. im from the US btw

Here's an example using the RUclips TV app (subscription) on Apple TV versus running it directly on my Sony TV. While viewing the program schedule, the Apple TV version shows live video in the preview box in the upper right of the screen versus a static image on the Sony. Another is that moving through the scheduled program listing can be scrolled quickly by pressing and holding a remote button, but on the Sony you have to keep pressing the button to move to the next time slot or channel. This is unusable if you want to check the schedule more than a day ahead or quickly scan the channel listing.

Same here man. I've grown to hate my apple TV. Mostly because the remote is a pain to navigate the OS.

I recommend you to get the OWC Envoy Express, its a happy middle since its fairly cheap, decently fast and you can literally put any nvme you want up to 4TB. Been using it and the real world speed is great, I mostly use it for audio and music production with ableton live and I can even run vst plugins from it. 10/10

Even an old Apple TV (think 2015 era) is better than a smart tv, and you can snag those on FB or Craigslist for dirt cheap. I’ve seen them for $20 or less. You can also get a mini desktop with a Celeron chip for around $100-150 and have a full-fledged computer that runs circles around any smart tv

Kyle.. You know this is a little déjà vu here. I just purchased three hisense TVs. 2 U7's 65 inch and a U8 at 75. The built-in application system, which is Google TV has so many bugs and so many issues that I reset the TVs and stripped out, the Google systems. I have five Apple TVs, one for each set in my home. I am so glad to see someone else with the same issues with TVs and their built-in app systems. When I first loaded the TVs, I went ahead and allowed Google to run and I had nothing but problems. For instance, Google would not load Amazon prime, just froze. Now I have the TV programmed where they go to HDMI 1 at power on where my Apple TV's are located. Anyway I just wanted to make sure that you knew that you were not alone with these TV operating systems. Thanks for the video.

Seriously I finally moved to an Apple TV and it’s amazing! We were using a built in Roku and a Roku stick on our other Tv and the experience was miserable. Netflix would freeze all the time. Amazon prime looked and ran like shit. Everything was slow and miserable. AppleTV is just so snappy and reactive and the ability to quickly switch back and forth between apps like on a phone it’s amazing.
